Congratulations on taking the first step towards empowerment, transformation and healing. The courage it takes to seek out a therapist should not be discounted or minimized; the idea of starting therapy can be scary. At Garnering Change Psychotherapy, we don’t “fix” people because you are not broken. Rather, we are here to support you on your journey of self-discovery and healing. Our approach to therapy is not a one-size-fits-all attitude/method. Using a holistic view, we take the time to learn about you, your values, and your goals for treatment. This allows us to collaborate with you and create a treatment experience that will be meaningful, healing, and rewarding. We are excited to partner with you on your journey of healing.
Prior to opening Garnering Change Psychotherapy, Heather gained her expertise in working with children, families, and adults in a wide variety of settings. She provided community-based psychotherapy at Catholic Charities, inpatient psychiatric services at MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center and outpatient therapy at Johns Hopkins Bayview Child and Adolescent Outpatient Psychiatry, and worked with families and individuals receiving hospice care.
Heather received her Bachelors of Social Work from University of Maryland Baltimore County and her Masters in Social Work with a clinical focus on children and families from the University of Maryland School of Social Work. She completed her clinical training at the Kennedy Krieger Institute Family Center. Heather is a Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners Approved Supervisor, an active member of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW), and a member of The Grief Recovery Institute©.[/vc_willow_team_member_block]
