Congratulations on taking the first step towards empowerment, transformation and healing. The courage it takes to seek out a therapist should not be discounted or minimized; the idea of starting therapy can be scary. At Garnering Change Psychotherapy, we don’t “fix” people because you are not broken. Rather, we are here to support you on your journey of self-discovery and healing. Our approach to therapy is not a one-size-fits-all attitude/method. Using a holistic view, we take the time to learn about you, your values, and your goals for treatment. This allows us to collaborate with you and create a treatment experience that will be meaningful, healing, and rewarding. We are excited to partner with you on your journey of healing.

Garner is a Licensed Certified Social Worker Clinical (LCSW-C) who provides individual, family and couples’ therapy. Heather is a kink and poly-knowledge therapist with experience treating couples and individuals in the kink and poly communities. She has found that while most people find the first step of contacting a therapist the hardest, members of the kink and poly communities often have a more difficult time entering into treatment. Members of the kink and poly communities need to find a therapist who will not make his or her lifestyle choices an issue when it is not one and do not want to spend time in therapy educating the therapist about his or her interests, sexual activities or desires. In working with Heather, you will find a kink and poly-knowledgeable, non-judgmental, compassionate therapist who has worked with a wide variety of clients with varying interests, roles, gender identities, sexual orientations, and relationship structures. In addition to working with couples and individuals in non-traditional relationships, Heather specializes in provides psychotherapy to those struggling with anxiety disorders, ADHD, and difficulties with life transitions. She has training in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and is able to work with adults who have been the victims of physical and sexual abuse. Heather is also a Grief Recovery Specialist© from The Grief Recovery Institute©, and facilitates Grief Recovery Outreach Program and one-on-one work.

Prior to opening Garnering Change Psychotherapy, Heather gained her expertise in working with children, families, and adults in a wide variety of settings.
